Toulouse is capital of the Midi-Pyrenees region of southern France and is nicknamed, "La ville rose" or the rose red city. From the 10th to the 13th centuries the counts of Toulouse controlled much of southern France. Today Toulouse is a vibrant and dynamic university town. It is famed for its opera, music, dance, theater and concerts.
