The city of Rotterdam boomed economically during the 19th century thanks to the creation of the New Waterway linking the cargo ports to the North Sea. Here in the west of the city, many of the 19th century buildings are now being preserved whist in the centre you will find examples of stunning modern and post-modern architecture like the word renown 'cube houses.' Once you tire from the city's wide choice of shopping take a cruise around the old harbour or take a visit up the Euromast for some panoramic views. Rotterdam has a vibrant youth culture so once night falls you can dance the night away in one of the many large dance clubs.
