Phoenix's history bagan as early as 300 BC, when the Hohokam people bagan irrigating the dry desert soil to yield crops. Today theres no escaping Phoenix is a city in the sun with its greatest attraction being the vast expanse of desert that surrounds it. It is highly recommended to take a drive to view Pinnacle Peak, Black Mountain and McDowell Mountains especially at sunset when the views are exceptional. Attractions within the the city itself include Heritage Square, where visitors can see the historic roots of Phoenix, Teeter House, the Scottsdale Center for the Arts and the Desert Botanical Gardens.
