Saint-Chapelle was built between 1240 and 1248 during the reign of King Louis IX, or Saint Louis, to house what is believed to be the True Cross and the Crown of Thorns that now reside in Notre Dame. The Upper Chapel is unrivalled in Paris with its medieval frescos and handcrafted stained-glass windows that give off an amazing hue of colour.
