The wide boulevard of the Champs-Elysees is the most famous avenue in Europe and believed to be the finest in the world. While the glamour of the Champs-Elysees may not be quite what it was, dominated as it is by airline offices and car showrooms millions stroll up and down the cafe and cinema lined avenue each year making it the number one tourist spot in Paris. Still central to Parisian celebration on Bastille Day (July 14th) the pavements swap the lines of traffic for the parading French army. It is especially pretty at Christmas with the fairy lights and on December 31 everyone happily jams up to hoot in the New Year.
