From Disneyland in Anaheim, Mann's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood , Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills and the many picturesque coastal communities including Long Beach, Santa Monica and Newport Beach. Greater Los Angeles (L.A.) embodies everything that makes the United States a great place to visit: beautiful scenery, world-famous attractions and a wonderful selection of activities.
Air
There are six major airports in the Los Angeles area, the largest of which is Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), the fifth busiest airport in the world. There are nine passenger terminals at LAX, which are connected by a roadway.
Other smaller airports include Burbank Airport (BUR), Long Beach Airport (LGB), Orange County/John Wayne Airport (SNA), LA/Ontario Airport (ONT), and LA/Palmdale Airport (PMD). International flights may come into several of these airports. Taxis and shuttle services go from all the airports, and car rental companies are located at or nearby each.
Sea
Los Angeles is quite accessible by cruise ship, and all ships dock at the Port of Los Angeles
Rail
The main Amtrak station in Los Angeles is the Union Station at 800 N. Alameda Street, next to the Hollywood freeway. Metrolink is the regional train service within the LA area. The Coast Starlight runs to LA from Seattle via Portland. The Pacific Surfliner runs from San Diego and the San Francisco Bay area to LA. The Southwest Chief runs from Chicago via Albuquerque and Kansas City to LA. The Sunset Limited runs from New Orleans via Tuscon and San Antonio.
Coach
Greyhound is the major bus service in Los Angeles. The main terminal is located at 1716 E. 7th Street in the South Downtown Arts District, in a somewhat unsafe area. Other terminals are the North Hollywood Station, the El Monte Station, and the East Los Angeles Station. Lux Bus has four day trips to and from Anaheim, San Diego and Las Vegas. Xe Do Houang operates between LA and the Bay Area.
Road
There are several motor routes into Los Angeles. Interstate 5 enters the state from the north, Interstate 10 enters from the east (starting in Jacksonville, Florida), and U.S. 101 is a west coast route from Oregon. The California 1 (Pacific Coast Highway) is the slowest route from the north but also the most beautifully scenic.
