London is a theatre mad city and is justly regarded as the best in the world with Shaftesbury Avenue, Coventry Street and Haymarket as the principle thoroughfares. Many of the major theatres are housed side to side in grand Edwardian building and sell more than 11 million tickets annually! Aside from the big budget productions like Cats and Sunset Boulevard there are many fringe theatres offering productions by prominent playwrights as well as fresh young talents. If you are planning to go to the theatre during your visit to London never risk buying your ticket from a tout in the street, try the 'Half Price Ticket Booth' in Leicester Square which sells good seats half price.
