The London Eye is a magnificent new millennium attraction that towers London's skyline. The large Ferris or observation wheel is a new landmark that celebrates 21st century technology and innovation. The London Eye was the concept of architects David Marks and Julia Barfield who inspired to design a celebrated landmark or monument. They agreed that a structure should be built but more importantly a structure like the Eiffel Tower that people could enter, enjoy and benefit from wonderful views. From their first thoughts the architects came up with the concept of a wheel as the ideal symbol for the Millennium as it would represent the turning of the century. So as an emblem regeneration work began on the South Bank on the world's tallest Ferris wheel. At 135 meters high the wheel provides stunning views of the capital. Signifying time the capsules provide passengers with a 30-minute, slow-moving flight over London. The London Eye is open daily from 9am-6pm. Admission is 8.50 pounds for adults and 5 pounds for children. Pre-booking of tickets is advisable to book tickets call 0870 5000 600.
