The ever-busy Piccadilly Circus, once regarded as the centre of the empire, is where the first large electrical signs flashed over a hundred years ago. Rather disappointingly you will not find any clowns or elephants here but you will find plenty of tourists. People watching is the main entertainment especially from the steps of the statue of Eros (so named as it was a favoured meeting place for lovers).
