Kensington was made a Royal Borough at Queen Victoria's request in 1901 and is now the most affluent borough (local authority area) in Britain. The ritzy residential area of Knightsbridge in the northeast gives way to the neighbourhoods of South Kensington and Earls Court, which are thriving with tourists and tourist accommodation. Kensington is probably best know today for Kensington Palace the former home of Princess Diana. It is also the place to head to if you are looking for a spot of culture, in one large block you can find here three major museums.

| | Connections for Knightsbridge and Victoria: One of the major reasons for Victoria's popularity with tourists is because of the ease that you are able to connect your self with the rest of the UK via the coach and train stations. Victoria train station has a direct rail link, 'The Heathrow Express' arriving every 15 minutes from the airport. With buses a good number to remember is 15, this will take you round the major tourist attractions at a much cheaper price than an official sight seeing tour!
