Also refrred to as the entertainment capital of the world, Las Vegas is perhaps the ultimate 'man-made' tourism attraction on earth. This city is a major vacation destination offering a Mecca for gambling, entertainment and shopping. Las Vegas is also home to many attractions of which the two most popular are The Hoover Dam and the Red Rock Canyon. The city is located in an arid basin surrounded by mountains varying in color from pink to rust to gray.

Las Vegas' climate is typical of the Mojave Desert, in which it is located, marked with hot summers, mild winters, abundant sunshine year-round, and very little rainfall.

The CAT Bus is a popular means of public transportation among locals and tourists with various bus routes covering a large portion of the valley. The Las Vegas Monorail runs from the MGM Grand Hotel at the south end of the Strip to the Sahara Hotel at the north end of the Strip.
