Karachi is the financial capital of Pakistan and is situated on the east coast of the Arabian Sea and to the north-west of the Indus River. With the development of Karachi's harbour it gradually grew into an important centre of trade and industry and today is culturally the most cosmopolitan city of Pakistan. Karachi is an interesting and colourful combination of the old and new with a variety of attractions, wide sunny beaches, markets and bazaar that offer a great variety of handicrafts, rugs and carpets. Probably the most famous site in the city of Karachi is the mausoleum of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, other sights include the Bohri Bazaar and the Jodia Bazaar. The southern part of the city is on the coast of the Indian Ocean and is home to numerous beaches where beach huts may be rented for the day.
