One of the oldest palaces on the Canal Grande houses the Hotel Principe, which has its own private landing platform for gondolas and private water taxis. The hotel building, The Palazzo Calbo-Crotta, is a gothic structure dating back to the 15th century.
Rooms at the hotel, some of which have views of the canal, are furnished in a traditional Venetian style with modern luxuries.
The hotel itself, aside from enjoying a splendid location, is a fine example of Venetian grandeur in that it is luxurious without being extravagant, beautifully decorated throughout with authentic color schemes and finishes.
