Frankfurt, also nicknamed "Bankfurt" or "Mainhatten", is the only German city with numerous skyscrapers. It is also home of the European Central Bank, the German Bundesbank and the German Stock Exchange. Attractions in the city include the unique "Museum Mile" along the banks of the Main river and Alte Oper the Old Opera House. Römerberg, Frankfurt's historical city center is also well worth a visit where you can sample the local apple wine in one of the open-air taverns.
