Europe

If I ever had a lot of time at my disposal,I’d love to visit France. Not a planned vacation, really, just an unplanned one. I’d love to wander in the streets of France, it is beautiful I’ve heard. . To me there existed nothing beyond Paris that I wanted to be to when I visit France. The most expensive city in France. But it took me just a five minutes of reading to understand how wrong I was.

There is indeed more to it than just Paris. France has kept pace with modernization, but they have not completely let go off their culture and traditions. Historical monuments like the castles, palaces and cathedrals still draw huge amount of crowds to this place. It has a whopping 32 sites that have been named as UNESCO world heritage sites. I have a feeling I can get a chance to step back in history when I visit France.

Food can never be a problem in France. France is well known for its wine and dine culture. You can find restaurants in just every part of the state. They serve an amazing variety of food; a chance to pamper your taste buds and that too at a fraction of a price! Yes, compared to many other parts of the world, France is the most economical when it comes to food. Even the smallest of the restaurants here will amaze you with the rich variety in menu.

Theme parks and amusement parks have caught up to a great extent in France. I’m sure the children will find this place anything but boring for them. There is a lot you can do in France to feed their curiosity. Open-air museums, wild life parks, theme parks, fascinating aquariums, the list could be unending. But before you venture out to these places, just make sure you are aware of the public holidays in France, else you may only get to see the closed doors!

The need to visit the Eiffel Tower stands high on my priority list. It sure must be one of the best structures to be a part of the seven wonders of the world. History says that it was built in spite of a lot of resistance by many nature lovers, architects and artists, the very people who celebrate the place today through their work of art. Lyon and Marseille are not to be missed if you are a lover of architecture.

A visit to France can never be complete without a visit to theme parks. The best among the lot being Disneyland Paris. This place is filled with all the Disney characters and recreates a “cartoon world” in a true sense. The other leading theme parks in France are Asterix, Futuroscope and Puy de Fou.

Once in France, you would surely not want to miss the vineyards of Champagne and Burgundy found abundantly in this land. In fact, this is where their wine and dine culture take their roots from, literally!
