Capital of Thailand, Bangkok (called Krung Thep by the Thais) controversially means City of Angels. Although its sticky humid weather, poverty, pollution and chaos seem to give it little to do with its meaning - delicious Thai food, friendly people, historical treasures are just a few things to admire of this ever more exciting and vibrant city.

Although humidity is high all year Thailand has three distinct seasons - hot and very humid (March to May), rainy (June to September) and cool (October to February). Hotel prices tend to be considerably higher during the cool season(high season).

A short visit to Bangkok often means that the days are just not long enough to absorb evrything it has to offer. The Grand Palace, The National Museum, Jim Thompson's House, The Erawan Shrine, Wat Arun temple, Chinatown, Pahurat are amongst the most visited.

Bangkok international airport is in the Don Muang district, about 25km (15mi) north of the city centre. Buses, taxis and trains all service the airport-city route.
