Amsterdam is a very popular destination for gay and lesbian travellers as it is considered one of the most liberal cities in the world. The most popular event is defiantly Amsterdam Pride with its party parade through the romantic canals. The Homo Monument is located at the foot of Westerkerk and is the worlds only monument dedicated to the struggles of gay liberation. Amsterdam has much to offer with gays friendly hotels, cafes, bars, restaurants, clubs, cinemas and saunas. There is also a gay beach located about 20 minutes from the city at Zandvoort.
