The advice on driving in Amsterdam is don't if you can avoid it! The city can simply not accommodate tourists' cars with its narrow streets and limited parking that is very expensive. Visitors are therefore asked use a park and ride service where they can catch a bus or tram to the city centre - this will also work out cheaper.
