Amsterdam has been a major center of the diamond-cutting industry since the 15th century and is one of the best places in the world to shop for diamond jewelry. There are still 24 diamond-polishing workshops in the city and a few offer free tours of the factories where you can watch the cutting and polishing without any obligation to buy including the Amsterdam Diamond Center located at Rokin 1.
